It seems that he wants to become a god and I guess could be the setup for Ch. 4. I think even if he was torn to shreds, I think he somehow got resurrected possibly by Dhuum and started gaining power through the ranks under Menzies, who saw his arcanist potential and thought he might be useful against Balthazar.

My interpretation was simply that he knew he'd die someday, and if his spirit's final resting place was the Hall of Heroes, he probably wouldn't want any old Tom, Dick or Harry wandering through.
So, unless the ghosts that killed him were REALLY vindictive, his ghost is probably still around, and may do something in the future (after all, being a ghost didn't stop Shiro). Just that he has died at least once

I like your interpretation. Yeah there is a possibility that somehow he's still around and plotting something. We possibly have a strong case. I think there may be more to it since there is a lot of GW "Lore" that really hasn't showed up yet or parts of the Lore that was left open. There are some unanswered questions too that we may want to look into as a possibility.

hope this is the right thread, havent had time to read it all so dont flame me if im repeating what some1 else said.
I think there might be a chance that the fourth chapter will be on the same landmass as cantha, since it will be the same team that worked on factions. (elona and tyria were done by the other team). Therefore, each team might be doing all their chapters on the same landmass.
This is just an idea, and i still think that the northern lands theory (which has been around for a long time) is the most plausible.

Thats my take on it anyway, why else have such a detailed description for an established people?
BTW the GW homepage has the manual available for download. http://www.guildwars.com/gameplay/manuals.php
See attachment for Cosair details from manual.
I think it may be interesting to have a sea bearing game, and allow for multi map ports... Or maybe a HUGE map zoom out with all the lands shown...
|
I do believe that this might be our hint to chapter 4. Read this part "Between the Northwest coast of Cantha and the southern rim of Elona, a deadly sea is troubled by sudden storms and cyclones, hidden reefs, and dangerous sea creatures. These waters were once navigated by Luxon raiders from Cantha, and to this day, brigands from many cultures search for secret coves hidden by these deadly waters."
One thing about Cantha doing trading with the Northern area may or may not be North of Tyria. It could be another continent Northeast of Cantha instead. The description mentions that Cantha must be somewhere south of Elona since there's a deadly sea between "NW coast of Cantha and the Southern rim of Elona."
After reading it for awhile, I'm kind of confused now.

To Everyone saying "Lets hope its North of Ascalon in the Ice lands because then we'll get Penguins"; you won't. Polar Bears live in the Arctic, Penguins live in the Antarctic.
Its more likely we'll get Polar Bears (Assuming Chapter 4 is in the North)
Perhaps the appearance of the Polar Bear "Ursula the White" in the Wintersday Quest is a clue? They might have been testing out a monster skin for Chapter 4.

Actually their size reminds me of Abaddon, maybe he was a Great Giant as well. He might have bested his predecessor (which he prob had, if u follow sidequests), and changed him from a mortal Great Giant.
I wonder if the other gods are as big as Abaddon, and im not talking about their Avatars. They are siblings after all...
Maybe we get an Avatar of Kormir in Chapter 4...
|
There is ALREADY AVATAR OF KORMIR...
AND think greek myth and titans, they were HUGE, and Zeus was the son of the titan leader. SO HE WAS ALSO HUGE. And, the gods in GW are ENORMOUS. (SEE GW PROPHECIES for picture, where king doric is beggin the gods.)

Going by the "northern trading" thing...
I think Gaile joking around and saying that CH4 will be Antartica isnt too far off...
I think that- regardless of how vast the world is, how straight their trade routes are, and how much they people of Tyria think they have the world figured out, they have some of the placing wrong...
They refer to cantha as the south, Tyria as north and all that, but what is (looking at the globe the right way) theres a mass of land that connects southern Cantha to northern Tyria?
this piece of land hits at either the north or south pole of the globe, and therefore is a snowy region..
This could explain how the shiverpeaks trail down, and could add more to the lore of Cantha

Is it just me or does anyone else NOT want the Charr back, or another snowy region, Or the Dwarves. After Prophecies i was sick of all three, dont really fancy Charr/Dwarves/Mountains/snow part 2.
Who knows where this "Northern Region is" since from what the descriptions of the manuals says, Cantha is located somewhere South of Elona, so Northern region could be anywhere north.
Another thing that i hope doesnt happen is Menzies or Dhuum trying to rise in power and overthrow the gods, because well that was nightfall.. Maybe something like introducing New Deities found worshipped by foreigners in a new land, but i dont mean moving on from the current 5(6) just adding a few more into the mix. That would be kinda cool.
I just hope everything is new in chapter 4, and not too much revisited material, afterall the first 3 chapters were one big story, which has now come to a end.

You know, you might be on to something here - or ANet could simply be explaining why there are so many corsairs in Cantha and Elona and not in Tyria. Or they could simply be seeding the lore with references to things in other parts of the world in general.
One problem with the nautical setting, however, is that without some significant upgrades the Guild Wars engine doesn't really seem to be suited to naval combat. Of course, there's nothing to say these upgrades aren't coming, and with cunning level design they might be able to find ways to fake it.

well whati've noticed is the connection of the prof map from the guide book... now take your CE edition of the map in nightfall and put the nightfall one under the prof one.. there is a line that falls right down.. sands... dune... in prof.. looking at night fall.. sands .. dunes... etc... .. weird considence.... i think not.
